ISCO Posters & Programs

An interesting and informative feature of ISCO is the poster display. More than 130 informational displays are set up in a ballroom in the Purdue Memorial union. Each display is arrayed on a four by eight foot foam sheet. Virtually all of the displays are highly technical in nature. Most are the equivalent of a graduate level professional presentation about very specific research or applied science topics. Some of the displays are highlighted here.

• The NRCS Soils Explorer Program adapts ArcView GIS technology to make soil survey information useful to the public, according to Bruce Nielson, NRCS Gis Specialist.
• 3-D Watershed Modeling was easy with hands-on computer technology on display at ISCO.
• The Verde Watershed "A Changing Landscape" provided a general glimpse of issues facing an area in the Central Arizona desert.
• Chief Reed looks at a display highlighting the use of GIS in community-based natural resource management strategies.
• An example of a technical display would feature numerous charts and graphs of interest to the professional.
• Water Quality of the Internet is now available through an extensive nationwide coooperative extension database project.
• Row after row of posters drew participants back to the ballroom for another look.
• Minibasins retain water according to the hypothesis presented in this display. The concept was also exlained during the Soil Research Lab Open House
• Wisconsin Multi-Agency Land and Water Education Program--An excellent display highlighting an extensive statewide effort. Click here for their website
