to the Resource Center this month. For the 2000-2001 school year,
Resource Center Staff presented 1040 classroom presentations and led 68 field

over 350 hours of their time to help with Resource Center projects this year.
TEACHER WORKSHOPS

school year the Resource center organized five workshops for teachers, and
83 teachers participated in these workshops
SPECIAL EVENTS
Glo, Sharon, and Alex did activities with kids at Kids Day at Thorpe
Park on May 12. We did flower activities with about 100 kids. For the 2000-2001
school year, the Resource Center did kids activities at 11 community events.
Over 1,00 additional children and families were reached through special events.
FINANCIAL
We submitted proposals to the Urban and Community Forestry Program through
the State Land Department this month for funding the new education center.
We received a challenge grant from an individual this month for $6000 for
our new building. We need to receive $6,000 in additional donations by the
end of July to receive this funding. Marie Jackson donated a very nice computer
to us that we will be able to use for our web site development. We are still
looking for a monitor for this computer. We received $5,500 for our general
operating costs from the City of Flagstaff Arts and Science Commission for
next year.
BUILDING UPDATE
We are waiting for the engineering for the trusses. We are
still focusing on fundraising and getting the plans submitted to the
city. Our start date for construction has been pushed back to August 6th.
MISCELLANEOUS
Mary is working with Marshall School to develop their new science
curriculum and science lab. We are continuing to work the development of our
web site.
