Resource Conservation
and Development

STATUS: Resource Conservation and Development projects provide a means
whereby local people, conservation districts, and local units of government can
organize on a county or multi-county basis for the purpose of identifying and
dealing with a wide range of resource related problems and opportunities that
cannot be dealt with successfully by other programs. Our District lies within
the Cocopai RC&D project area.

POLICY: The Coconino NRCD supports a viable RC&D program as a means of
supplementing conservation district programs and assisting local sponsors with
resource problems. We will support any changes in the RC&D program that will
strengthen and make the program more responsive to the local needs.

IMPLEMENTATION: The District will be represented on the Cocopai RC&D
Council and will assist the Council with its responsibilities. We will stress
education in program development. Program potential and resource problem
solving are educational factors that need emphasis with the sponsors and the
public. We will assist the RC&D Coordinator in this effort. We will place high
priority on any projects that provide for community needs and are wanted by
local people to solve conservation problems. RC&D has been and will continue
to be a vehicle to assist the District in obtaining program funds.
