Cultural
Resources

Beale Wagon Road
STATUS: There are many archaeological
sites in the district; some are significant
and some are not. There were the hunters, gatherers and farmers
in our area's past.
State and federal laws regulate cultural resources on both private
and public lands.
POLICY: The district feels cultural
resources are a fragile link to the past, are
important, and that significant sites should be protected and
studied. However,
we feel that insignificant sites should not stand in the way
of natural resource use
and conservation nor infringe on private property rights.
IMPLEMENTATION: The district's work
and in its cooperation with other
agencies and producers will seek to preserve significant sites
and to promote
awareness of their importance. The district will also promote
reasonableness in
dealing with cultural resources when it may conflict with the
use and
conservation of natural resources.
