Other Program Activities:

Arizona State Fair

The CAEEC worked with thirteen organization to develop an agricultural display for the Arizona State Fair. The theme of the display was "In some way, agriculture has touched your life today".

The exhibit displayed household products made from agricultural products, safe food handling facts, use of beneficial insects, aquaculture, dairy and beef information, and Arizona grown products. In addition, the display provided information on the economic impact of agriculture. The exhibit was interactive and targeted elementary school students and their teachers. CAEEC personnel were on hand at the fair to speak with students and their teachers.

EarthFest:

The CAEEC worked with Creative Plants and Tonto Forest Service to develop a display for EarthFest, Arizona's official Earth Day celebration. EarthFest is coordinated by Valley Forward Association. The theme of the event was "Preserving Our Desert." The CAEEC display showed mirror images of a desert. One side was a healthy desert with plenty of wildlife (compliments of Arizona Game & Fish). The other side had garbage throughout it and no wildlife. The partners in this exhibit spoke to students about the importance of keeping the desert trash free for animals and humans alike. They also talked to the children about Arizona's wildlife and plant life in the desert.

Valley Forward also coordinated the High School Outreach Program with assistance from the CAEEC. Students from seven high schools presented various projects including:

After the presentations, students went to Papago Park to work on a revegetation project. Students led the project from Saguaro High School.
